The Rincon de La Vieja is a mountainous massif of 600 thousand years of existence, comprising nine volcanic chambers. We will visit the south side of the volcano, taking a natural trail that will lead us through a transitional forest with lush vegetation.
Your expert guide will be explaining to you all about the volcanic activity you will be watching. During our 2 hours hike through a Costa Rica active volcano, you will be able to see mud pots, boiling water pools, geysers and mini volcanoes.
But the wonders of nature of this National Park are not limited to its geological importance. The Rincón de la Vieja has several habitats due to differences in altitude and precipitation, to the effect of volcanic eruptions and the influence of both Pacific and Atlantic weathers. Some of the wildlife that inhabits these lands are the peccary, the Central American agouti, the tayra, armadillos, anteaters, sloths, howler, white-faced and the spider monkey, more than 300 species of birds and hundreds of species of butterflies.
